Client’s Needs:

SB Supply team was facing performance and scalability challenges with its Magento 1 e-commerce platform, which affected user experience and traffic growth. Due to which, the company sought to upgrade its Magento 1 platform to Magento 2 to better manage complex logistics, support real-time inventory updates, and optimise the user experience across global markets. That’s why they reached out to the Rock Technolabs team.

Besides this, their team were also looking for some other key requirements was the integration of the AFAS ERP system with Magento 2 for real-time synchronization of orders, inventory, and customer data. They also needed a multi-store and multi-language setup to cater to international audiences, ensuring localized content and pricing. To enhance logistics and payments, SB Supply requested Paazl logistics integration for efficient shipping and MultiSafePay for secure, flexible payment processing.


Improving search functionality was another priority. By implementing ElasticSearch, we aimed to provide faster, more accurate search results with features like autocomplete and recommendations. The addition of social login options (Google and Facebook) was also essential to simplify user access.


Design and user experience improvements included using the Cartzilla theme with Hyva integration for better speed, responsiveness, and aesthetics. The client also required SEO optimization, covering meta tags, category URLs, and Google Tag Manager for advanced tracking.

1. System Integration

One of the major hurdles was integrating third-party systems like AFAS ERP for enterprise resource planning and Paazl logistics for shipping and delivery. This process required custom development to enable real-time synchronization of orders, inventory, and customer data between Magento 2 and these external systems. Ensuring seamless data exchange without errors or delays was critical to maintaining operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

1. Magento 1 to Magento 2 Migration

To ensure a seamless transition from Magento 1 to Magento 2, a three-stage migration strategy was employed. The initial migration took place during development to test data compatibility and verify module integrations. A mid-project migration during the QA phase tested data synchronization and implemented new features. Finally, a comprehensive migration occurred just before launch to ensure all data was up-to-date. Additionally, the Gampafas_Afasprofit ERP module was migrated to Magento 2, and the Gampebiz_Logistics system was implemented to streamline logistics operations.

The team integrated the Hyva theme for enhanced speed and mobile responsiveness, customizing it to align with SB Supply’s branding. The Cartzilla theme was adapted within Hyva’s framework to ensure a cohesive visual appeal. A tailored Hyva checkout process simplified the user journey, improving conversion rates. Social login modules enabled seamless login via Google and Facebook, boosting user engagement.

4. Advanced Search Functionality

ElasticSearch replaced the outdated Sphinx Search to deliver faster, more accurate results. The Amasty Advanced Search module was configured to provide filters like size, color, and price, significantly improving product discoverability and user satisfaction.

5. Performance and SEO Optimization

Full-page caching and image optimization techniques were applied to improve page load times. SEO strategies included optimizing meta tags, URLs, and product descriptions, along with integrating Google Tag Manager for enhanced tracking.

6. Third-Party Integrations

Tools like MailChimp for email campaigns and Channable for marketplace integration were implemented. Other modules, including Ajax Cart, Amasty Layered Navigation, and Amasty Product Labels, enhanced functionality and user experience.

7. Testing and Quality Assurance

The final phase involved extensive testing. Functional testing ensured smooth operation of ERP, logistics, and payment modules. Performance testing confirmed the site could handle high traffic, while SEO testing validated optimization measures. Module-specific testing ensured compatibility and functionality across all third-party tools.
